Our philosophy
The architects of Mathews & Associates have created their own brand of locally inspired and relevant modern architecture. They are not slavish copiers of fashion and do not believe in imitating other styles. Placing an emphasis on originality, they opt for simplicity and a strong graphic quality in their work, while ensuring the honest use of materials and the application of genuine design principles such as texture, light and space as design tools instead of gimmicks. They are dedicated to excellent design and believe that each client, brief, site and house is unique.

Pieter obtained his BArch Degree in 1991 at the University of Pretoria, receiving the prestigious Goldfields of SA Scholarship for Architecture, the David Haddon Prize for Office Practice as well as a second place in the Portnet SA Richard's Bay Harbour Development Competition.
